Coaching Support

Traditionally, professional development has consisted of selected members from a site attending a training or conference, coming back to the site to report learning, and limited implementation of the new learning takes place due to a lack of support following the training. This is not to place blame anywhere. It is a flawed system.

The Leadership Team at FCSS believes in a three-tiered coaching support system for lasting implementation of new strategies or content knowledge from teacher or administrator trainings. This three-tiered system begins with classroom professional development centered around content knowledge and strategies that reflect current and best practices, followed by administrator campus walks with leadership/systems coaches to support site level implementation of the new learning, and finally district-level steering committee meetings to evaluate and monitor implementation and identify future needs and supports to improve implementation even further.

This model offers support for the educational system by aligning all resources around a central vision that supports the professional development at site and district levels. For more information and an opportunity to work with FCSS to support your staff with a model like this, please contact Lori Willson.
